Duplex Nickel Plating

“Duplex” in this context simply means “two layers”

Semi Bright Nickel – Bright Nickel; in the ratio 66% - 33% plus decorative chrome top layer.

“Duplex Nickel Chrome” has a very bright reflective surface. It is applied to a wide variety of decorative components from seat belt buckles to light fittings to shop fittings to refurbished car components.

It is recognised that this combination of Nickel & Chrome afforded better corrosion protection than a single layer of bright Nickel of the same total thickness, because the bright nickel corrodes preferentially to the semi bright so the corrosion spreads laterally rather than perforating through to the substrate.
