A Synopsis of How the Various Plating Processes are Done.

Hard Chrome Plating

Did you know…?

Used extensively in the Hydraulics Industry is Hard Chrome Plating – also known as Industrial Chrome – a finish that can be applied to most ferrous metals and some non-ferrous metals such as copper and brass. It can also be applied to all types of stainless-steel alloys. If you are in any doubt, just ask and we’ll advise, all part of what we do.

Chrome saves money

Hard Chrome is applied to metals as a means of improving resistance to wear and abrasion, preventing seizing and galling, restoring the dimensions of undersized parts and reducing friction. This reduces cost through better efficiency and minimising downtime.

A Hard Chrome finish improves the performance of:

  • Hydraulic pistons
  • Rail Safety Components
  • Piston Rings
  • Piston Rods
  • Hydraulic repairs

Industrial Bronze Plating

Did you know…?

Used on its own, or in combination with chrome plating, Industrial Bronze Plating creates an extreme corrosion resistance in several Industrial Applications. A bit like a hybrid corrosion solution that takes skill to create.

Corrosion resistant

Other uses of the metal finish includes the possibility of building up the thickness of a metal to an excess of 1mm, and for sealing the substrate before Hard Chroming is applied. Our Bronze Plating application has an Extreme Corrosion Resistance of up to 2,000 Hours. The end result we produce is a finish rated at 9 with Salt Spray testing.

Bronze Plating is applied to:

  • Hydraulics
  • Rail
  • Mining (Anti-Spark & Corrosion)
  • Refurbishment of Hydraulic Rams / Pistons
  • Metals that need Corrosion Protection

Chrome on Bronze

Did you know…?

Used to seal in Substrate before Hard Chrome is applied is Chrome on Bronze plating. This protects against extreme corrosion and lasts up to 2,000 hours and is rated at level 9 in our Salt Spray testing.

More on this…

  • Building a thickness in excess of 1mm
  • Used on its own, or with Hard chrome for extreme corrosion resistance in many Industrial Applications
  • Can be used as an intermediate layer under Nickel.

Typical Applications

  • Hydraulics to prevent corrosion.
  • Mining (Anti-Spark & Corrosion)
  • Build up of refurbished hydraulics – Back to size.
  • Where Corrosion Protection is essential
